Job summary

Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant role in Leeds with TeacherActive Ltd, supporting students with SEMH needs in an alternative provision. The role offers short-term or long-term placements with an ASAP start, on-site working conditions and a contract basis.

You will work closely with teaching staff to support students with SEMH, manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies, and provide both one-to-one and small group support to help students engage with their learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Experience in an alternative provision, PRU, SEND school or similar is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students who may struggle to engage with education.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs, providing one-to-one and small group assistance to help engagement with learning.
• Assist teaching staff in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies during lessons.
• Contribute to a positive, structured learning environment and support students to re-engage with education.
