Job summary

British Geological Survey (BGS) is seeking a Seismic Network Engineer to provide on-site field engineering support for our seismic monitoring network. The role involves monitoring real-time systems, reacting to issues, and contributing to the installation of permanent and temporary seismic stations across the UK.

Applicants should have a relevant engineering background, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work in remote outdoor locations under varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience with engineering systems in electronics, communications, IT or similar.
• Full UK driving licence with off-road experience (desirable).
• Degree/Diploma in a relevant science/engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Ability to communicate engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to work across the UK and in remote outdoor locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site field engineering support to the seismic monitoring network.
• Monitor quality and performance of real-time seismic system and react to failures.
• Construct and install permanent and temporary seismic stations.
