Westminster Abbey in London is seeking a Security Supervisor to join the Security Department. You will oversee a small team of Security Beadles and play a key role in protecting visitors, worshippers, staff and residents on a 24‑hour basis.
The ideal candidate has a minimum BTEC Level 3 in Security Management (or equivalent such as police or military experience), strong verbal communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure during critical incidents.

The Security Department is seeking to recruit a Security Supervisor to join the existing team of Senior Beadles. As a Security Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the safety and security of Westminster Abbey, ensuring the protection of visitors, worshippers, staff, and residents on a 24‑hour basis. You will be responsible for managing a small team of Security Beadles, who carry out the Abbey’s historic security duties, and will operate on a shift rota that includes nights, weekends, and public holidays. Your leadership and expertise will be integral in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for all.
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum BTEC Level 3 qualification in Security Management (or a relevant equivalent such as police/military experience). With strong verbal communication skills, you will handle critical incidents with composure, always maintaining a calm, professional, and polite demeanour, even under pressure.
These are 40 hours per week. The normal arrangement of working hours is Monday to Sunday on a rota basis including day and night shifts, however the postholder will be required to work the hours to suit the needs of the organisation.
The full - time holiday entitlement is 33days per annum , including recognised pub lic holidays.
On‑site training will be provided in all aspects of the job. Any further training needs will be assessed through the probation period and in annual appraisals.
