Job summary

BardWood is seeking a Security Officer for a full-time role based in Avonmouth. You will patrol the site, monitor CCTV, and liaise with colleagues via radio while managing gatehouse operations. Weekend work is required and a valid driver’s license with vehicle is essential due to site location.

The role requires a strong safety mindset, the ability to work under pressure, and a 5-year checkable work history. On transfer after 12 weeks, comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid SIA License.
• CCTV experience is preferred but not essential.
• Strong IT and software literacy.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Experience in a security role is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the site and monitor CCTV/alarms.
• Communicate with staff via radio.
• Manage gatehouse and operate vehicle barriers.
• Check driver IDs, visitor passes, and contractor credentials.
• Verify delivery documents and paperwork.
• Log arrivals and departures of trucks and personnel.
• Conduct regular internal and perimeter patrols.
• Inspect fire doors and restricted areas.

About the role

Title – Security officer

Pay Rate – £13.45

Location – Avonmouth

Shift Timings – Full time, 4 on 4 off shift pattern , Day shifts and must be able to work weekends

Must have a drivers license and vehicle due to the location of the site

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Patrolling the site
• Communicating with other staff via radio
• Manage the gatehouse and operate vehicle barriers.
• Check driver identification, visitor passes, and contractor credentials.
• Verify delivery documentation, bills of lading, and collection paperwork.
• Log the arrival and departure times of all transport trucks and personnel
• Conduct regular internal floor and exterior perimeter patrols.
• Monitor CCTV systems, alarm panels, and electronic access gates.
• Inspect trailers, check cargo seals, and perform random exit searches.
• Check fire doors, locks, and restricted storage areas

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License
• CCTV License preferred not essential
• CCTV Experience
• Outstanding IT skills
• Outstanding written and spoken communication skills
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Experience in a similar role, would an advantage
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
