Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Security Officer in Halifax for a full-time role. You will protect customers and colleagues, manage access control, monitor CCTV, and maintain security records while supporting reception and visitor queries.

The role operates on a 4 on 4 off 12-hour shifts with 42 hours per week. A valid SIA frontline licence is essential, with additional CCTV knowledge beneficial.

Qualifications

• SIA Frontline Guarding Licence – essential.
• Customer-focused with good communication.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies or challenging situations.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to complete accurate security records.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and site-based systems.
• Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• Reliable with strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Issue and manage site keys and access cards, and complete regular checks.
• Respond to security incidents and emergencies promptly and professionally.
• Support fire alarms, evacuations and security alerts per procedures.
• Monitor site radios and respond to calls and incidents.
• Monitor CCTV systems where required.
• Complete accurate incident reports and security records.
• Carry out regular security checks and report concerns or hazards.
• Liaise with management and emergency services as needed.
• Support contractors and visitors while on site and ensure procedures are followed.
• Carry out weighbridge duties accurately and efficiently.
• Provide reception and customer service support to employees and visitors.
• Build positive relationships across the site.
• Escalate security concerns with clear information to the manager.
• Follow all Health & Safety and security procedures.
• Assist the wider security team as required.
• A CCTV Licence would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll do:

• Issue and manage site keys and access cards, completing regular checks and audits.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, concerns and emergencies.
• Support emergency procedures, including fire alarms, evacuations and security alerts, in accordance with site procedures and training.
• Monitor site radio communications and respond appropriately to calls and incidents.

• Complete accurate incident reports, occurrence logs and security records.
• Carry out regular security checks and report any concerns, hazards or suspicious activity.
• Liaise with management and, where required, emergency services or other relevant authorities.
• Support contractors and visitors while on site, ensuring security procedures are followed.
• Carry out weighbridge duties accurately and efficiently.
• Provide professional reception and customer service support, helping employees, visitors and contractors with queries.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues and customers across the site.
• Escalate security concerns promptly and provide clear information to the appropriate manager.
• Follow all company and site Health & Safety, security and operational procedures.
• Support the wider security team with other reasonable duties as required.

What you'll bring:

• A current SIA Frontline Guarding Licence – essential.
• A professional, approachable and customer-focused attitude.
• Good communication skills with the confidence to interact with employees, visitors, contractors and management.
• The ability to remain calm and professional in emergency or challenging situations.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to complete accurate security and incident records.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Confidence using computers, including Microsoft Office and site-based systems.
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• A reliable and responsible approach with a strong awareness of safety and security.

A CCTV Licence would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Previous experience within security operations, a reception environment or a busy operational/manufacturing site would also be beneficial.
