Job description

# Vacancies Security Officer## Job Introduction**Security Officer — Olympia London****Front of House · Estate & Public Realm · Logistics***Be part of one of London's most ambitious regeneration projects.*Olympia is undergoing a £1.3 billion transformation — turning this iconic London landmark into a destination for the remarkable and the extraordinary. Think British Airways ARC (a 3,800-capacity live music venue with AEG Presents), the British Airways Theatre (London's largest purpose-built theatre in almost 50 years), hotels with citizenM and Hyatt Regency, 30 restaurants and bars, a boutique gym with 1Rebel, and a brand-new co-educational senior school — all alongside Olympia's existing heritage halls. As a Security Officer at Olympia, you'll be part of a single team trusted to keep the whole estate safe — whether that's welcoming people at the front door, patrolling the public realm and event spaces, or securing the loading bay and logistics operation. We're looking for experienced, proactive Security Officers who take pride in their work, deliver excellent customer service and can confidently handle the challenges of a busy, high-profile environment. You'll receive training to ensure you can perform confidently in any area you're deployed. As part of the role, flexibility is essential, and you'll support the operational needs of the business by working across different areas as required.**Pay Rate**£15.00 per hour**Contract Type**Full-time**Shift Pattern**12-hour shifts, 4 on 4 off days and nights, average 42 hours per week.**Why You'll Love Working Here*** **£15.00 per hour + overtime*** **Get paid as you earn** — flexible financial support with instant access to earned and authorised wages* **We invest in you** — full induction, ongoing training, and structured career development* **Fully funded SIA top-up training** delivered by our own in-house trainers* **Quality kit and uniform** so you're comfortable and equipped to do the job well* **Employee Assistance Programme** supporting your mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing* **Refer a Friend Scheme** — earn £100 for every person you refer who joins us* **Long service and recognition awards** celebrating your achievements* **Genuine variety** — no two shifts are the same, and you'll build a broader skill set than a single-site role would give you**The Role**This role is about more than just security — it's about making a difference across one of London's most exciting developments. All Security Officers at Olympia are recruited under a single role and cross-trained across the estate, so you'll build skills that go well beyond one location or one type of duty.Depending on the shift, that might mean staffing a reception desk, patrolling event spaces and the public realm, or securing the loading bay and logistics operation. Deployment is decided by the operational needs of the day. You'll be expected to take ownership of your duties, maintain high professional standards and use your initiative to identify and report potential risks before they become incidents. If you're looking for a single, fixed post with no variation, this role won't be the right fit. If you enjoy variety, want to build a wider range of experience, and are happy to go where you're needed on the day, you'll get far more out of this role than a single-site position could offer.**What You'll Be Doing****Front of House & Reception*** **Access & Verification** — controlling entry for authorised personnel, contractors, and pre-registered visitors; verifying credentials via access control and visitor management systems.* **Professional Presence** — maintaining a discreet yet authoritative presence aligned with high-profile tenant expectations.* **Customer Service** — delivering a welcoming, professional and helpful experience to visitors, occupiers and contractors while maintaining security standards.* **Vigilance** — watching for suspicious behaviour, tailgating, or unauthorised deliveries; reporting anomalies to the Control Room.* **Conflict Management**— confidently managing challenging situations through effective communication, de-escalation and professional judgement.**Estate & Public Realm*** **Patrol & Monitoring**— conducting regular patrols across the public realm, identifying security concerns, safety hazards and suspicious behaviour, and reporting issues promptly to the Control Room.* **Incident Response** — responding calmly and professionally to incidents, from lost property to medical emergencies and evacuations.* **Crowd Management**— supporting event operations, including queue management, ingress, egress and safe pedestrian movement across the estate.* **Proactive Security**— maintaining strong situational awareness, identifying potential risks early and taking appropriate action in line with procedures.**Logistics & Loading Bay*** **Access & Vehicle Screening** — controlling vehicular access; verifying credentials, manifests, and vehicle details via ANPR and access control systems.* **Goods-In and Goods-Out Security** — overseeing secure movement of goods and watching for tampering, theft, or suspicious packages.* **Documentation** — logging vehicle entries, deliveries, and inspections; completing incident reports and handovers.**Across All Areas*** **Emergency Response** — acting as a point of contact during fire alarms, evacuations, or lockdowns.* **Coordination** — liaising with tenants, contractors, and the Control Room; maintaining accurate logs; communicating clearly via radio and phone.* **Reporting & IT**— confidently using digital security systems and mobile applications to complete clear, accurate incident reports, daily records and handovers.* **Professional Standards**— maintaining a high standard of appearance, punctuality, conduct and accountability at all times.* **Compliance** — operating within SIA licensing conditions, GDPR, and Olympia's safeguarding policies.**What We're Looking For*** A valid SIA Door Supervisor licence (Essential).* SIA CCTV licence (ideal, not essential).* 5 years' checkable work and address history (Essential).* At least 18 years old (SIA licensing requirement).* Able to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, evenings, and weekends.* Willingness to be deployed across front of house, estate/public realm, and logistics duties as required.* A calm head under pressure and a genuine people person.* Someone punctual, professional, and ready to learn.* Previous security experience, ideally within corporate, events, public realm, retail or logistics environments. (desirable)* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.* Confidence in handling challenging situations and resolving conflict calmly and professionally.* Good observation skills, situational awareness and the ability to recognise and report potential security risks.* Good written communication and IT skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate reports.* A proactive, reliable individual who takes ownership of their responsibilities and works well both independently and as part of a team.* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, undertaking regular foot patrols and standing for extended periods, with reasonable adjustments where required.* Willingness to complete mandatory training and maintain the competencies required to work across different areas of the estate.Experience in corporate security, event security, reception, public realm or logistics is highly desirable. Additional qualifications such as FREC 3, First Aid or CCTV licensing would be an advantage. We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate previous security experience, strong customer service skills and a proactive approach. While experience is valued, we also recognise the importance of attitude, professionalism and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the training and support you need to thrive across every area of the role.**About Us**Carlisle Support Services works with some of the UK's most recognisable brands and venues, including Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Jaguar Land Rover, Tesco, and BBC Studioworks.
