Job description

We are looking for candidates who can clearly demonstrate their suitability for this role.

The Role:

Waddesdon is an historic French Renaissance-style château, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1874 and is now managed by the Rothschild Foundation. Welcoming around 350,000 visitors annually, Waddesdon Manor houses the Rothschild Collection and hosts a diverse range of exhibitions, public events, and educational programs. The Rothschild Foundation has a trading company, RWL, which runs catering and retail on-site, a private events business and a hotel, (the Five Arrows) and pub (the Bow) in Waddesdon village.

What you will do:

The Security Night Ranger (SNR) will be responsible for ensuring Waddesdon property, staff, and residents remain safe from any possible risk to property or person.

You will work closely with the Deputy Head of Security (DHOS) and the Security Manager (SM) to maintain the Security of Waddesdon Manor, The Rothschild Foundation, Rothschild Foundation Properties, and the Waddesdon Estate to resolve issues in an efficient manner and ensure high professional standards are upheld throughout the Wider Estate and Manor Grounds. Also ensuring members of the public stick to rights of way and no trespass takes place. The SNR will also on occasion when necessary to support the wider Security team, carry out duties within the Control Room including locking and unlocking buildings as required.

As the SNR, you will patrol the estate and buildings on a constant basis throughout your shift. The SNR will maintain an accurate log of all activity, communicate all relevant information quickly and concisely to the appropriate parties, identify potential issues and escalation an appropriate response.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Security

To be a point of contact for security related matters whilst on shift externally around the estate
To take ownership and appropriately respond to all security related issues, matters, and incidents
To identify any potential issues or threats and report these to the DHOS
To help enable Waddesdon Estate control access and maintain its perimeter security
To patrol buildings and grounds, providing a high level of security presence
To lock and unlock buildings physically, if required
To liaise with external contractors in the event of an emergency callout
To effectively communicate all relevant information to the Waddesdon Control Room
Control Room duties as scheduled to include monitoring Alarms and CCTV as a relief support
To control and appropriately elevate a response to any incidents across the site
To account for all security equipment and keys daily
To ensure all required documentation is completed to a high standard and passed on to the DHOS
To undertake any training and continued professional development deemed necessary by the DHOS
To report any maintenance issues to the Head of Facilities, copying in the DHOS, SM and Security Control room
Liaise with other departments as required to effectively manage the movement of visitors and contractors around the site.
Provide a high visual presence in a vehicle at all key entrance points sporadically throughout the night
To assist guests arriving out of hours at the Five Arrows Hotel or returning from an event
Be a presence at events as support as and when required

Fire

To ensure that all required fire checks are conducted over the period of their shift
To check the systems for faults daily and report any issues to the DHOS and SM

First Aid

To coordinate an appropriate response to any first aid incidents across the site

Health & Safety

To remedy and report any situation that represents a hazard, and ensure all incidents and accidents plus unsafe conditions are dealt with promptly and recorded accordingly
Take responsibility for their own H&S and that of others by following Health & Safety policies and guidelines
To carry out and complete a daily vehicle check at the start of each shift
Physically check in with the Security Control Room at the start of each shift for daily update

You will be a great fit if:

You have relevant experience in a security role and can confidently and dynamically risk assess in any situation. You will have a willingness and ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, bringing energy, resilience, and enthusiasm to your role, with a good understanding of Ordinance survey maps, and bylaws and public order. Your excellent communication skills and friendly manner will mean you are approachable, and you can rely on your interpersonal skills to interact with visitors and members of the public.
