Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a vigilant Security Officer to join our team. You will monitor CCTV systems, control access, and respond to incidents, while maintaining relationships with the client’s departments.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to work under pressure, and a professional presence on site. Working Monday to Friday, 06:00–18:00, you will ensure safety for customers and staff, perform patrols in all weather, and support the site operations with timely reporting and

Qualifications

• Front line SIA/CCTV Licence required for Security Officers.
• Excellent customer relationship skills and communication abilities.
• Experience with hand-held radios and security communications.
• First aid at work certificate and ongoing training supported.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Code of Practice and procedures; follow security protocols.
• Maintain CCTV control room security and facility protocols.
• Report incidents to Police or relevant agencies and provide commentary.
• Maintain accurate data recordings and event logs.
• Provide first response to intruder alarms.
• Prepare written reports on all incidents of crime and disorder.
• Ensure safety of customers and staff; professional customer service.
• Operate and monitor CCTV systems and access control per client requirements.
• Dispatch security officers by phone, radio, or messenger.
• Handle difficult situations and work under pressure; decisive during incidents.
• Coordinate permits and access control to authorised areas.
• Liaise with contractors as required and build client relationships.
• Attend toolbox talks and day-to-day contact with client representatives.
• Carry out patrols (internal/external) and work in all weather conditions.
• Cover reception duties when required.

About The Role

Working Pattern

Working Monday to Friday 06:00 - 18:00

Key Responsibilities

This role will include a variety of tasks but is not limited to the following:

• Comply with the adopted Code of Practice and service operational procedures at all times, breaches of which will result in disciplinary action being taken.
• Follow protocols for maintaining the security of the CCTV Control Room and its facilities
• Report any incidents that occur immediately to the Police or report to another relevant agency and provide support/commentary to the Police and/or other relevant agency.
• Maintain accurate records of data recordings and events
• To provide the first response to intruder alarm call
• To provide written reports on all incidents of crime & disorder
• Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
• Ensure safety of customers and all staff.
• To operate and monitor the CCTV systems to activate and manage access control in line with the client requirements.
• Dispatching security officers as required via telephone and/or radio or messenger
• Must be able to handle difficult situations and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
• Check and manage work to permit and corresponding access control to authorised areas
• Liaising with contractors as and when requires.
• Must be able to work under pressure and be able to make decisive decisions during incidents and difficult situations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with all the client’s departments.
• Ensure that all OCS policies, procedures, and standards are in place and adhered to.
• Maintain day-to-day contact with the customer’s representatives and attend meetings/Toolbox Talks as directed.
• Able to carry out internal and external patrols and long periods of standing.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
• Meet and greet guests, and occupiers to the site, providing a professional and friendly service.
• Providing high visibility Static Guarding or Mobile Guarding of the property/building and grounds.
• Develop and maintain relationships with all the client’s departments.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Be conversant with all statutory compliance processes and procedures.
• Ensure that all OCS policies, procedures, and standards are in place and adhered to.
• Able to carry out internal and external patrols and long periods of standing.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• The job role requires time-to-time manual handling i.e., Tensor barriers/Metal Crowd Control Barriers and other tasks required on the client’s site.
• Exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the site uniform requirements.
• To deal efficiently and effectively with emergencies including fire and bomb scares ensuring the building management team and colleagues are kept fully informed at all times.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
• Covering reception as and when required.

Personal Specification

• Security Industry Qualifications – Front line SIA/CCTV Licence for Security Officers.
• Covering Security Control Room
• A good Level of interpersonal skills
• Excellent customer relationship skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be able to demonstrate and deliver high-quality guarding and excellent customer service to both our clients and service users.
• You should be both welcoming and representative of the ‘five-star’ feel of the building and the client we are representing.
• A professional demeanour with sound judgment and integrity.

• An understanding of basic Police and other Emergency Services procedures.
• Knowledge of the phonetic alphabet.
• Experience of hand-held radio use.
• Future SIA/CCTV licenses to be funded by the officer.
• First aid at work certificate.
• You will be vigilant and alert, able to use caution, and apply an inquisitive mindset to your duties.
