Job summary

Envitia in the UK is hiring a DevOps / Platform Engineer to design, build and operate secure cloud capabilities within classified government environments. You will work across AWS and cloud-native technologies, delivering reliable, scalable platforms that underpin mission-critical digital services for national security.

Qualifications

• Experience in UK security and defence environments.
• Strong knowledge of cloud, platform engineering, and DevSecOps with secure automation.
• Experience with AWS and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, ECS).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated build, test, deployment and release processes.
• Security integration, quality gates and compliance in delivery pipelines.
• Observability practices including monitoring, logging, alerting and service metrics.
• Understanding of SRE principles including reliability engineering and incident management.
• Awareness of secure deployment, compliance requirements and operational security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines to support efficient, automated software delivery.
• Develop and manage cloud-native infrastructure using AWS and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Support containerised platforms and environments, including Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS and ECS.
• Embed security controls, quality gates and compliance checks into DevSecOps workflows.
• Implement observability, monitoring, logging and alerting to support reliable live services.
• Contribute to SRE practices, improving service reliability, performance and operational resilience.
• Automate build, deployment and platform processes to reduce manual overhead and improve release confidence.
• Collaborate within Agile teams, supporting delivery, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance on platform engineering, cloud and deployment best practices.
• Support production environments, including incident resolution, environment management and release readiness.
