Job summary

Profile 29 is seeking an AWS-savvy Principal Cloud Engineer to join their platform and delivery teams. You’ll design, build, and operate reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure that underpins critical public-sector services.

You’ll combine AWS, DevOps, cloud engineering, and automation with a focus on reliability, observability, and security. Hybrid work between London, client offices, and home is offered; UK security clearance (SC, DV, eDV) is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in SRE/DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure Engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of AWS.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with identity and access management (IdAM) platforms like Keycloak is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate resilient cloud infrastructure (AWS essential).
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes manifests.
• Build and manage event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Operate and maintain databases and data platforms such as PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB.
• Configure and support identity and access management (IdAM) solutions such as Keycloak.
• Monitor system health, performance, and capacity using observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• Champion DevSecOps practices, embedding security and compliance into delivery.
• Automate deployment, scaling, and recovery processes to improve reliability.
• Support development teams with environment configuration, secrets management, and container orchestration.
• Participate in incident management and root-cause analysis to improve resilience.
• Contribute to internal platform frameworks, templates, and automation accelerators.
