Job summary

The University of Sunderland is seeking a Research Data and Infrastructure Engineer to design and deliver secure cloud-based data platforms supporting AI-enabled translational healthcare initiatives.

You will work across academia, NHS and industry to architect scalable data infrastructure, implement infrastructure-as-code practices, and enable researchers to access large-scale multimodal data securely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience designing secure, cloud-based research data platforms.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams across academia, NHS and industry.
• Strong governance, privacy and regulatory compliance in healthcare data contexts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and operation of secure cloud data infrastructure for NORI.
• Develop scalable analytics pipelines and secure data services for AI-enabled research.
• Collaborate with researchers, clinicians and partners to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
