Job summary

Tarmac Stancombe Asphalt Plant is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead daily plant operations near Bristol. You’ll manage a high-performing team, drive safety and efficiency, and maintain budgets while ensuring customer expectations and regulatory standards are met.

The role emphasizes leadership, cost control, and site compliance with opportunities for development within a major infrastructure-focused business. A UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Strong health, safety and environmental mindset with experience of developing safe working procedures and risk assessments.
• Experience driving operational performance and continuous improvement.
• Budget management and cost control experience.
• Knowledge of production processes and operational compliance.

Responsibilities

• Managing, coaching and developing a high-performing operational team
• Leading health, safety and environmental standards across the site
• Overseeing plant production and operational performance
• Managing planned preventative maintenance of fixed and mobile plant
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies
• Managing budgets, costs and financial performance
• Maintaining stock control processes and operational reporting
• Implementing and reviewing SOPs, risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Conducting safety briefings, toolbox talks and investigations where required
• Managing contractor controls, inductions and site compliance
• Monitoring site KPIs and driving performance improvements
• Supporting the ongoing development and training of site personnel
• Ensuring compliance with Quarry Regulations and industry standards
