Job summary

COLAS ROADS UK in Bristol is seeking an Assistant Terminal Manager to oversee bitumen terminal operations, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and lead a team of operators and contractors.

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, you will manage import/export by ship and road, scheduling, stock and maintenance while driving cost efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

A health and safety qualification and a clean driving licence are essential; engineering qualification desirable.

Qualifications

• HNC/D or degree level education (engineering qualification desirable).
• At least two years' experience in a similar or related role, including team management.
• Health and safety qualification or relevant experience is essential.
• Clean driving licence.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills; familiarity with MS Office.
• Knowledge of the bitumen industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing all terminal operations including import/export of bitumen by ship and road, storage, blending and dispatch.
• Support adherence to safety and environmental standards, operational scheduling, stock and maintenance management.
• Liaise with third parties such as shipping agents and port authorities; coordinate staff rotas and training for 24-hour operations.
• Act as first point of emergency contact and contribute to audits and continuous improvement at the terminal.
