Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter Supervisor for our Hayes Asphalt Plant in London. You will lead maintenance activities, focusing on planned maintenance, fault-finding, and reactive maintenance across the plant, including rail discharge systems.

You will report to the Operations Manager and Senior Operations Manager. Role requires a proactive approach to health, safety and environmental standards, strong electrical knowledge, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Health, safety and environmental standards awareness.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems in heavy industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in asphalt or similar industry is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
• Conduct plant safety and maintenance inspections and develop safe systems of work (method statements, risk assessments).
• Record maintenance activities and requests within Tarmac’s maintenance system.
• Assist with commissioning of new plant and equipment.
• Participate in regional and local maintenance meetings to support continuous improvement.
• Liaise with site management to coordinate repairs and maintenance.

Maintenance Fitter Supervisor – Hayes Asphalt Plant, London

Are you an experiencedMaintenance Fitter Supervisor seeking your next opportunity?

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team at our Hayes Asphalt Plant in London.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager and Senior Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role within the maintenance team. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, and reactive maintenance across all areas of the asphalt plant, including rail discharge systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring full compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and company Safety, Health and Environmental standards
• Conducting plant safety and maintenance inspections, and developing safe systems of work (including method statements, risk assessments, and dynamic risk assessments)
• Recording maintenance activities and work requests within Tarmac’s maintenance system
• Assisting with the commissioning of new plant and equipment
• Participating in regional and local maintenance meetings to support continuous improvement
• Liaising with site management to coordinate required repairs and maintenance activities

Candidate Requirements

• A proactive and positive approach to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, ideally within a heavy industrial environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience within an asphalt or similar industry would be advantageous, but is not essential

Additional Information

Please note that this role supports plant operations running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As such, flexibility is required, including participation in an on-call rota, as well as occasional night, weekend, and bank holiday working.

You may also be required to work across multiple asphalt plants within the region. A company van will be provided to support travel requirements.
