Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the Netherton Hub project in Peterhead. You will provide engineering control, set out and technical assurance across allocated work areas, ensuring works meet specifications and programme requirements.

Collaboration with site teams, commercial and planning, and a strong emphasis on safety and quality are central to the role. You will manage drawings, surveys, QA documentation and technical queries, while supporting temporary

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in Civil/Construction Eng or equivalent.
• Experience carrying out engineering control and setting out on construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction quality requirements, specs and engineering standards.
• Experience producing quality documentation and maintaining engineering records; health, safety and environment awareness.
• Experience using surveying equipment and engineering software to support delivery.
• CSCS Card.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, BIM and digital engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Providing engineering control and setting out for construction activities across the project.
• Establishing and maintaining accurate site control and survey information.
• Interpreting drawings and design documentation to support delivery teams.
• Producing and maintaining quality documentation (Activity Control Plans, I&T Plans).
• Maintaining as-built records and engineering documentation.
• Raising and managing Technical Queries and supporting issue resolution.
• Monitoring quality, addressing non-conformances and close-out activities.
• Supporting Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Temporary Works documents.
• Promoting safe systems of work and contributing to site inspections and Zero Harm initiatives.
• Monitoring progress, updating short-term programmes and identifying delivery risks.
• Supporting commercial processes with accurate records and progress reporting.
• Providing technical guidance to Site/Graduate Engineers and project team.
