Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking a Section Engineer for a major civil infrastructure and earthworks project in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. You will oversee setting out, QA, and technical compliance, coordinating with Site Agents, subcontractors and the design team to deliver a designated section on time and to spec.

You will ensure safe practices, manage RFI/design changes, review drawings and test results, and maintain quality records to support handover and programme milestones.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Section Engineer on major civil/energy projects.
• Strong background in earthworks, drainage, and road packages.
• Experience coordinating Site Engineers and subcontractors.
• CSCS card held.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the engineering delivery of a designated section of the project, ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
• Manage and support Site Engineers, ensuring accurate setting out, surveying, dimensional control and as-built records.
• Review construction drawings, technical specifications and design information, identifying discrepancies and resolving technical queries with the design team.
• Coordinate engineering activities across bulk earthworks, road construction, haul roads, drainage, fencing and associated civil infrastructure packages.
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures and project specifications.
• Prepare, review and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, check sheets, as-built drawings, test results and handover documentation.
• Raise and manage RFIs, technical queries and design changes, ensuring issues are resolved before they affect site progress.
• Coordinate material testing, compaction testing, concrete testing and other quality control activities as required by the works.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme, identify potential engineering constraints and work with the delivery team to maintain milestones.
• Support RAMS preparation and review, ensuring engineering activities are planned and executed safely.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, including temporary works procedures and safe systems of work.
