Job summary

CSS Recruitment is seeking a Section Engineer for a Colchester-based scheme. You will manage site engineering activities, supervise construction works, and ensure safety, quality and progress in line with programme and budget.

Permanent employment opportunity with responsibilities spanning setting out, surveying, QA, HSE procedures and coordinating subcontractors to keep the project on track.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering qualification or equivalent field experience.
• CSCS card; SMSTS preferred or required as specified.
• Experience in civil engineering, highways or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of setting-out equipment, quality assurance and health & safety procedures.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage site engineering activities, including setting out, surveying and interpreting technical drawings.
• Supervise construction works, ensuring compliance with specifications, drawings and quality standards.
• Implement health and safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, site teams and resources to maintain project progress.
• Complete site inspections, quality records, as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Monitor progress, resolve technical issues and support programme and cost control.
