Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Section Engineer to join the Thames Water WAAP Programme team based in Reading / Oxford (Thames Valley Central). You will provide technical and supervisory support on construction sites and help set out and mark out locations for infrastructure installations.

The role emphasises collaboration within a fast-paced Design & Build team, with a focus on health and safety, quality control, and delivering projects to programme.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence, Degree/HND or equivalent, CSCS Card and SMSTS Card required.
• Civil engineering or construction experience with demonstrable experience in the Water sector.
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with a range of professionals.
• Excellent organisational skills, analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Team player with IT skills, flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the main technical adviser on construction sites for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives
• Managing and establishing survey controls, setting gridlines, conducting levelling and other land surveying activities
• Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy and ensuring all materials and work are in accordance with specifications
• Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners and the workforce to keep projects moving smoothly
• Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters, and resolving any unexpected technical difficulties

Job description

We're looking for a Section Engineer to join our Thames Water WAAP Programme team based in Reading / Oxford (Thames Valley Central). Location: Reading / Oxford (Thames Valley Central) Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

As a Section Engineer, you'll support various projects on the Thames Water WAAP Programme, helping to deliver the requirements of individual projects. Your input will be technical, organisational and supervisory. You'll set out and determine locations for infrastructure installations, apply designs and plans to mark out sites, and share responsibility for site security, health and safety, and the organisation and supervision of resources. You'll operate within a fast-paced Design & Build team where collaboration is key to developing innovative solutions for our clients.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Section Engineer, you'll be working within the Thames Water WAAP Programme team, supporting them in delivering quality outcomes for our clients. Your day to day will include:

• You have excellent organisational skills, analytical abilities and attention to detail
• You're a team player with strong IT skills, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities
