Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Section Engineer to work on energy projects from Norwich to Tilbury. The role focuses on delivering civil engineering tasks within EPC style energy projects, ensuring site quality and compliance with contract requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a civil engineering degree and prior Section/Site Engineer experience on construction projects, with strong surveying and setting-out skills and a solid understanding of quality, safety, environmental, and sustainability

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience as Section or Site Engineer on construction projects.
  • Experience in surveying and setting out techniques.
  • Understanding of quality, safety, environment and sustainability requirements.
  • Experience in civil engineering or construction project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Resolving technical problems at all levels.
  • Carry out inspections in line with the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Produce survey information and red-lined drawings for As-built records.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated and in date per policy and manufacturer requirements.
  • Ensure construction operations comply with contract requirements and procedures.
  • Provide clear, accurate information to site personnel to perform duties.
  • Supervise outputs and confirm environmental requirements are met on the project.
  • Ensure all materials on site are suitable and stored per guidelines.
  • Assist Site Management to update KPIs, material reconciliation and progress reports.

A day in the life of a Murphy Section Engineer:

  • Resolving technical problems at all levels.
  • Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
  • The production of survey information and red – lined drawings for the completion of the As-built records.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers’ defined requirements.
  • Ensure construction operations are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements using the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
  • Supervises the outputs and confirms that the project environmental requirements are met.
  • Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer’s recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
  • Assist the Site Management team to update KPI’s, material reconciliation and progress reports.
