Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Section Engineer to work on Western Gas - Western Import Resilience Pipeline, a major civil engineering project in the energy sector. You will support delivery on site, resolving technical issues, supervising construction activities, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• IEng/CEng membership or equivalent in civil engineering.
• Experience on large civil engineering projects, preferably in oil/gas.
• Experience with substations or linear cable projects.
• Ability to communicate with top level management and clients.
• Strong knowledge of current HSE and environmental legislation.
• Experience producing and managing safe systems of work.
• Competence in surveying and setting out techniques.

Responsibilities

• Resolve technical problems at all levels.
• Carry out inspections per ITP in a timely manner.
• Produce survey information and red-lined As-built drawings.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and within manufacturer requirements.
• Ensure site operations comply with contract requirements.
• Provide clear information to site personnel for duties.
• Supervise outputs and confirm environmental requirements are met.
• Assist in updating KPI, materials reconciliation, and progress reports.

A day in the life of a Murphy Section Engineer:

• Resolving technical problems at all levels.
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
• The production of survey information and red – lined drawings for the completion of the As-built records.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers’ defined requirements.
• Ensure construction operations are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements using the appropriate procedures.
• Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
• Supervises the outputs and confirms that the project environmental requirements are met.
• Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer’s recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
• Assist the Site Management team to update KPI’s, material reconciliation and progress reports.

• IEng/CEng
• Experience in large civil engineering projects.
• Experience within Oil or Gas, Substations or Linear Cables.
• Ability and confidence to communicate and present to Top Level Management, Senior level clients and public.
• Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines.
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures
• Experienced in surveying and setting out techniques
• Sound understanding of Quality, Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainability project requirements.
