Job summary

Murphy is seeking a Section Engineer to join its international engineering and construction operations in Australia. You will resolve technical problems, conduct inspections, and support delivery of As-built records on civil projects.

You will be responsible for surveying and setting out, ensuring equipment is calibrated, and that site work complies with contract requirements and company procedures. Strong understanding of QA, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements is essential,

Qualifications

• Degree required in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in surveying and setting out.
• Understanding of QA, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements.
• Experience on construction or civil engineering projects.
• Ability to interpret ITPs and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Resolve technical problems at all levels.
• Carry out inspections according to the ITP.
• Produce survey data and red-lined As-built drawings.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and in date.
• Ensure construction operations meet contract requirements.
• Provide clear information to site personnel.
• Supervise outputs and confirm environmental compliance.
• Ensure materials are suitable and stored per specs.
• Support Site Management with KPI updates, material reconciliation and progress reports.

A day in the life of a Murphy Section Engineer:

• - Resolving technical problems at all levels.
• - Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
• - The production of survey information and red – lined drawings for the completion of the As-built records.
• - Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers’ defined requirements.
• - Ensure construction operations are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements using the appropriate procedures.
• - Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
• - Supervises the outputs and confirms that the project environmental requirements are met.
• - Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer’s recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
• - Assist the Site Management team to update KPI’s, material reconciliation and progress reports.
