Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are recruiting motivated and adaptable Secondary Teaching Assistants to work with reputed schools in Middlesbrough. The Secondary Teaching Assistant will support pupils across a range of subjects, helping learners understand content and become more independent.

The role requires Enhanced DBS, flexibility for full-time/part-time arrangements, and day-to-day or long-term placements. Immediate start available through a trusted education consultant.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged students in education or related setting.
• Understanding of different learning needs and appropriate classroom support approaches.
• Ability to communicate clearly and establish positive relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

• Assist students who require additional guidance during classroom activities.
• Reinforce lesson content through focused one-to-one and small-group sessions.
• Adapt learning materials to make activities accessible for different abilities.
• Encourage young people to participate actively and remain focused on assigned work.
• Monitor progress and communicate observations to teaching staff.
• Contribute to positive classroom routines and an inclusive learning environment.
