Job summary

GSL Education is seeking Qualified Teaching Assistants to support partner schools in Gateshead. The role covers 1:1 and small-group support, literacy and numeracy development, and interventions for pupils with SEND.

You must hold a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification and have experience in school settings. The position offers full-time, long-term, flexible opportunities with local consultant support.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent.
• Have previous experience working with children within a school or educational setting.
• Be confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support.
• Have strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
• Be patient, reliable, adaptable and proactive.
• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• Be committed to supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with the delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Support pupils across the curriculum, including literacy and numeracy.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Deliver targeted interventions where required.
• Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Maintain a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
