Job summary

A leading educational institution in Bath is seeking a passionate Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students with autism. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives while gaining valuable experience in education. The position is term-time only, with working hours from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Secondary Teaching Assistant – Bath – BA2

We are currently recruiting proactive, empathetic, and passionate Teaching Assistants to work in a special educational needs provision for secondary pupils with autism in Odd Down, Bath (BA2).

This role is ideal for someone looking to build a fulfilling career in education and support students with diverse learning needs.

Details
  • Start: September 2025
  • Salary: £90 - £125 per day, depending on experience
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • Term time only
  • Location: Bath – BA2, easily accessible by public transport
About the Secondary Teaching Assistant role
  • Provide additional support to students diagnosed with Autism
  • Assist in delivering and adapting learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff, working one-to-one or in small groups
  • Supervise pupils during break times
  • Build positive relationships with students to promote academic success and emotional well-being
  • Encourage students to develop self-confidence, resilience, and independence
The right candidate
  • Maths and English GCSEs (Grade A*–C / 9–4) or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an educational setting as a learning support assistant, teaching assistant, or similar role
  • Strong behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Proficient ICT skills, especially with Microsoft Office packages
