Secondary Teaching Assistant - Cardiff

Are you a teaching assistant ready for your next challenge in education? We have an exciting opportunity available for a Secondary Teaching Assistant to work within a fantastic secondary school in the Cardiff area.

We’re seeking an individual with experience, confidence, and a proactive attitude to thrive in a classroom environment. You’ll be responsible for supporting secondary-aged pupils, and at times, stepping in to cover classes in the absence of the teacher.

Welsh language skills are preferred, but not essential for this role.

Duties Will Include

1. Working 1:1 and with small groups of pupils
2. Supporting pupils with a variety of learning needs
3. Covering classes when the teacher is absent
4. Maintaining classroom discipline in line with the school's policy
5. Building strong relationships with pupils
6. Helping pupils engage with the national curriculum
7. Promoting the school’s ethos and adhering to all school policies
8. Collaborating with colleagues and the school leadership team

Ideal Candidates Will

1. Be enthusiastic about building a career in education and expanding their knowledge of the National Curriculum
2. Have experience working with children in a primary or secondary setting
3. We also welcome applicants with backgrounds in support work, care, education, and sports
4. Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
5. Be registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
6. Be passionate about improving educational outcomes for all pupils
7. Possess excellent organisational and communication skills
8. Support and promote the school’s ethos
