Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive North London secondary school in the Haringey area. You will provide targeted academic support across English, Maths and Science for KS3/KS4 pupils and deliver 1:1 and small-group tutoring to boost attainment.

Applicants should have prior UK secondary school experience, hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS, and be patient, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience as Secondary Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Learning Mentor or Academic Mentor.
• Strong knowledge of English, Maths and Science.
• Confident delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions.
• Able to support GCSE preparation and revision.
• Holds or is willing to obtain Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across KS3 and KS4.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group tutoring in core subjects.
• Help pupils who have fallen behind or require additional academic intervention.
• Support students with GCSE preparation and revision.
• Work alongside teachers to adapt activities to individual ability levels.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Provide classroom support where required.
• Help maintain positive behaviour and a productive learning environment.
