Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a secondary school in the Chorley area. This full-time temporary role starts November 2026 (or sooner) and offers the chance to boost students' progress, confidence and wellbeing through 1:1 and small-group interventions and strong classroom support.

The ideal candidate will have experience with young people, excellent communication skills, GCSE English and Maths (4/C or above), and a patient, adaptable approach.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or a similar setting.
• A genuine passion for helping students succeed.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, adaptable, and positive approach.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
• Teaching Assistant qualifications are welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support students across a range of subjects and year groups.
• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, including SEN support.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom preparation.
• Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Promote student wellbeing and achievement throughout the school day.
