Job summary

Ark Boulton Academy, recruited via The Supply Register, is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs on a long-term basis. The role involves close collaboration with teachers, the SEND team, and family to help the student thrive academically and socially in a secondary setting.

Experience in education, care, or youth work is welcome; a patient, resilient, and adaptable approach is essential. DBS Update Service is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Experience in school, care, youth work, residential, or similar settings.
  • Knowledge of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language needs, or other additional needs.
  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Commitment to supporting the progress and wellbeing of young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with additional needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEND department to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively in lessons.
  • Support the pupil's emotional, social, and academic development.

The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Ark Boulton Academy for a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or support worker looking to make a meaningful difference in a young person's educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the student, teaching staff, and SEND team to ensure the pupil receives the support they need to thrive both academically and socially within the school environment.

The Role
