Job summary

Ark Boulton Academy in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs on a long‑term basis.

You will work closely with teachers, the SEND team and the pupil to implement tailored strategies, support curriculum access, and promote positive behaviour in an inclusive classroom.

This role suits experienced Teaching Assistants or support workers seeking meaningful, lasting impact in education.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN.
• Experience in school, care, youth work, or similar settings preferred.
• Knowledge of ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs is beneficial.
• Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A valid Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with additional learning and behavioural needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SEND department to implement tailored strategies.
• Support curriculum access and positive engagement in lessons.
• Support emotional, social, and academic development.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Build trusting relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
