Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEN school in Salford, starting immediately. The role supports students aged 11-19 with complex needs, working with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver tailored learning experiences.

You will assist with communication, emotional regulation and social development, adapt activities to needs, promote positive behaviour and provide personal care where required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school, care, youth work or support setting.
  • Understanding of additional needs such as ASC, learning difficulties or physical disabilities.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with complex SEN needs.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and specialist secondary SEN school in the Salford area, starting immediately.

This welcoming provision supports students aged 11-19 with a range of complex special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), severe and profound learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), sensory processing difficulties, physical disabilities, medical needs, and students who may display challenging behaviours linked to their additional needs. The school is committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive socially, emotionally and academically.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff, you will help deliver tailored learning experiences and provide the individual support students need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
