Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a large specialist school in the Thornton-Cleveleys area for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

This well-established specialist provision supports children and young people aged 4-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory needs, communication difficulties and complex medical needs. The school provides a nurturing, highly supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their individual potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. Responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support.
• Supporting pupils with communication, learning and personal development.
• Assisting with sensory activities and structured interventions.
• Encouraging social, emotional and academic progress.
• Helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Supporting pupils with personal care where required.
• Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, disabilities or additional needs.
• Can remain calm, patient and nurturing in challenging situations.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Are passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential.
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant care/support experience (desirable but not essential).
• Are willing to undertake relevant training and development.

This position would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, support workers, care staff, youth workers, psychology graduates or anyone looking to develop a career within special educational needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
