Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment in Wolverhampton is seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with highly complex needs in a secondary setting. Full training will be provided, including medical care delivery if required, with DBS via Update Service desirable.

The role is based in Wolverhampton with excellent transport links to surrounding areas. You will work closely with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to support the pupil’s learning, wellbeing and

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
• A relevant Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).
• Experience supporting children with complex needs.
• Previous experience delivering medical care is advantageous but not essential.
• Confidence working independently whilst also being an effective member of a wider classroom team.
• A patient, caring and flexible approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with highly complex needs.
• Working in a Secondary environment.
• Deliver engaging, tailored activities to support the child's learning and development.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support the child's emotional, educational and physical wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Deliver medical care following specialist training.
