Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child returning to school in the Autumn Term. Based in Wolverhampton, the role is classroom-based within a secondary environment and will involve working closely with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will support a pupil with highly complex needs, deliver tailored activities, and assist with personal care and medical care where required.

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
• Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).
• Experience supporting children with complex needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with highly complex additional needs.
• Working in a Secondary environment.
• Deliver engaging, tailored activities to support the child's learning and development.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support the child's emotional, educational and physical wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Deliver medical care following specialist training.
