Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a Secondary School Support Worker to join a welcoming school in the Kettering area. The role involves supporting 1:1 and small groups, aiding students with emotional and learning needs, and building positive relationships to foster inclusion.

Ideal candidates have experience in support work, mental health, SEN/SEND or related fields and are patient, resilient, and reliable for full-time work in Kettering.

Qualifications

• Have experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Good understanding of emotional wellbeing and additional support needs.
• Be calm, patient and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.
• Be confident building relationships and maintaining clear boundaries.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people.
• Be available for full-time work in Kettering.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students.
• Supporting young people with additional learning, social and emotional needs.
• Helping students overcome barriers to learning.
• Supporting students who may struggle with behaviour, confidence or emotional regulation.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Encouraging independence, resilience and engagement with education.
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Supporting students within lessons and during targeted interventions.
• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams.
• Helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.
