Job summary

Connex Education Partnership in Newark is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school. You will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and help maintain a calm, focused learning environment for pupils aged 11–16.

Qualifications

• Degree OR GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above in both, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with pupils and staff.
• The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils.
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting pupil progress and school life.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to support learning and classroom administration.
• The ability to maintain a calm, purposeful and positive learning environment.
• An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries within a school setting.
• Adaptability and resilience when working across different subjects and year groups.
• High standards of professional behaviour, presentation and integrity.
• A willingness to engage in professional development and respond positively to feedback.
• Completion of the Connex Education / Academize Effective Cover Supervision training course (access will be provided to all suitable applicants).
• A full enhanced DBS certificate.
• Completion of the Connex Education onboarding process.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.
• Help maintain continuity of learning and create a calm, purposeful environment.
• Support pupils aged 11–16 and build positive relationships to encourage engagement.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school expectations and provide feedback to teaching staff.
