Job summary

Referment is seeking an Operational Risk Analyst for a regulated UK digital bank. The role sits in the second line of defence, reporting to the Operational Risk Manager, with a base in London or Manchester.

You will help develop and maintain the bank's risk framework, advise on risk controls and drive effective reporting to governance levels. You’ll work across risk areas, supporting risk assessments, RCSA processes, and monitoring of risk events, controls and indicators.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational risk, risk management or internal controls in financial services or banking.
• Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks and the roles of first and second lines of defence.
• Familiar with RCSAs, risk events, issues management and key risk indicators.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends and translate findings into recommendations.
• Clear communication and independent judgement to challenge and oversee risk.
• Awareness of UK banking regulatory environment and related controls.

Responsibilities

• Support identifying and assessing operational risks and maintaining effective controls.
• Conduct risk assessments, identify weaknesses and propose improvements.
• Develop and implement operational risk policies and procedures.
• Oversee the RCSA process, including risk assessments, controls and actions.
• Coordinate risk events with clear ownership and progress tracking.
• Review risk events to spot themes and root causes to prevent repeats.
• Monitor and test controls for design and effectiveness.
• Develop and monitor key risk indicators and escalate concerns.
