Job summary

New Victoria Hospital, part of the Bupa family, is seeking a Second Chef to join our hospital kitchen team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, visitors and colleagues in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

You will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain high food safety standards, contribute to menu development, and ensure excellent patient dining experiences across the hospital.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible with a 7-day rota and hospital catering environment experience.
• Experience in healthcare or hospital kitchen settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals to consistently high standards.
• Support menu planning to ensure nutritious, varied, patient-focused meals.
• Ensure meals meet dietary, allergen and nutritional requirements.
• Assist with stock control, ordering and inventory management.
• Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation standards.
• Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene practices.
• Complete daily kitchen documentation including temperature monitoring.
• Minimise food waste and assist with cost management.
• Guide catering team members and deputise for Head Chef when required.
• Support catering for hospital events and functions.
