Job summary

New Victoria Hospital in Kingston upon Thames is seeking an experienced Second Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering nutritious meals to patients and staff. You'll work closely with the catering team to maintain high standards of food safety and presentation in a busy hospital kitchen.

NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery and Food Hygiene cert are essential; you must be able to manage stock, plan menus, and work across a 7-day rota.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification required.
• Food Hygiene Certificate and strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety.
• Experience in a professional catering environment with healthcare familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals to high standards for patients and staff.
• Plan nutritious, varied menus aligned with dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals meet dietary, allergen and nutritional standards.
• Assist with stock control, ordering and inventory management.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and infection prevention practices.
• Provide support to Head Chef and supervise catering team as needed.
• Contribute to catering for hospital events and functions.
