Job summary

Meallmore is recruiting a Second Chef for our Belleaire Care Home in Greenock, overlooking the River Clyde. You will support the Head Chef to plan and prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences.

Working 34 hours per week across 4 days (8am-5pm) with alternate weekends, the role offers competitive pay (£13.78 per hour) and benefits including sick pay, free parking, and access to Wagestream. Join a valued team delivering compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Strong cookery skills and creativity in preparing home cooked nutritious meals for our residents.
• A personal and warm approach with a genuine interest of the well-being of our residents.
• Ability to work to deadlines meeting the needs of the residents.
• Great communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food safety practices.
• Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs and food allergies is desirable but not essential.
• A culinary qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head chef to organise, plan and prepare meals ensuring that all home cooked food reflects residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
• Provide guidance and training to care teams on safe and appropriate textured food options for residents, ensuring compliance with dietary standards.
• Comply with industry and Meallmore quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Involved in menu development, tailoring around resident’s needs, likes and dislikes to deliver person-centred hospitality.
