Meallmore Ltd. is seeking a Second Chef for Forthland Lodge in Edinburgh. The role involves supporting the Head Chef to plan and prepare meals, reflecting residents' dietary needs and preferences, while ensuring high-quality, home-cooked food.

You will train care teams on safe textured food options and help develop menus that are tailored to residents. This role emphasizes kindness and person-centred hospitality in a care home setting.

Qualifications

• Strong cookery skills and creativity in preparing home cooked nutritious meals for our residents.
• Warm, personal approach with genuine care for residents.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage resident needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food safety practices is required.
• Awareness of nutrition, dietary needs and allergies is desirable.
• Culinary qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef to plan and prepare meals reflecting resident preferences and dietary requirements.
• Assist in training care teams on safe and appropriate textured food options.
• Ensure compliance with Meallmore quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Participate in menu development tailored to residents' needs and preferences.
