Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting at Exeter Mail Centre for a seasonal Mail Sorter role to help process letters and parcels during the peak of the festive period. You’ll unload items, move mail around the sorting centres and assist with quick, accurate sorting.

We offer multiple shift patterns (early, late, nights and weekends) with hourly pay that varies by pattern. No previous experience is required—full training is provided and you’ll join a supportive team delivering cheer to customers this Christmas.

Location: Exeter Mail Centre, Exeter, EX2 7XX

Looking for a temporary Christmas job? Whether you’re looking to earn extra money, gain experience in a busy warehouse environment, or to be part of something meaningful, this role is for you. Every year, Royal Mail brings festive cheer to millions, and we couldn’t do it without our brilliant seasonal team. No previous warehouse or mail sorting experience is required – just bring your enthusiasm and we’ll provide the rest.

Tis the season to be earning a little extra

As a Seasonal Mail Sorter, you’ll help process millions of cards, gifts, and parcels during our busiest time of year. Your duties will include:

• Unloading letters and parcels from delivery lorries
• Moving mail safely around our sorting centres and warehouses
• Helping sort letters and parcels quickly and accurately

We have a variety of shift patterns available at Exeter Mail Centre, Osprey Road, Sowton, EXETER, EX2 7XX, including the following core shift patterns:

• Earlies: 06:00 - 14:00 (£13.69 p/h)
• Lates: 14:00 - 22:00 (£15.14 p/h)
• Nights: 22:00 - 06:00 (£16.44 p/h)
• Weekends: Various shifts available (as above p/h)

Please note, night shifts are not available to applicants under 18 years old.

Depending on location, you may have access to facilities such as on-site canteens, break areas, social spaces and subsidised gym facilities.

What You’ll Need To Join The Team

You don’t need any previous warehouse operative, mail or parcel sorting experience. We’re looking for people who:

• Have a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Are organised and able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Enjoy active, hands-on work, including working on your feet, pushing / pulling trolleys (up to 250kg with wheels!), and handling items up to 11kg.
• Are flexible and happy to switch tasks when needed.
