Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring for the seasonal Christmas operation in Carlisle. Join our team as a Seasonal Mail Sorter to help process cards, gifts and parcels during the peak period.

No prior warehouse experience required—bring your enthusiasm and reliability, and we’ll train you for the job. You’ll work with flexible shift patterns including Earlies, Lates and Nights at Carlisle Mail Centre and Distribution, with hourly rates from £13.69 to £16.44 depending on shift.

Qualifications

• No previous warehouse or mail sorting experience required.
• We look for people who are positive, organised and able to work in a busy environment.
• Able to work on your feet, push/pull trolleys (up to 250kg) and handle items up to 11kg.
• Flexible and happy to switch tasks when needed.

No previous warehouse or mail sorting experience is required - just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide the rest.

Tis the season to be earning a little extra

As a Seasonal Mail Sorter, you'll help process millions of cards, gifts, and parcels during our busiest time of year. Your duties will include:

• Unloading letters and parcels from delivery lorries
• Moving mail safely around our sorting centres and warehouses
• Helping sort letters and parcels quickly and accurately

We have a variety of shift patterns available, including the core shift patterns below, at:

Carlisle Mail Centre, Junction Street, CARLISLE, CA1 1AA

Carlisle Distribution, Junction Street, CARLISLE, CA1 1AA

• Earlies: 06:00 - 14:00 (£13.69 p/h) - Carlise Mail Centre only
• Lates: 14:00 - 22:00 (£15.14 p/h)
• Nights: 22:00 - 06:00 (£16.44 p/h)

Please note, night shifts are not available to applicants under 18 years old.

Depending on location, you may have access to facilities such as on-site canteens, break areas, social spaces and subsidised gym facilities.

What you'll need to join the team

You don't need any previous warehouse operative, mail or parcel sorting experience. We're looking for people who:

• Have a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Are organised and able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Enjoy active, hands-on work, including working on your feet, pushing / pulling trolleys (up to 250kg with wheels!), and handling items up to 11kg.
• Are flexible and happy to switch tasks when needed.
