Job summary

Whitehall Garden Centre Ltd in Lacock is seeking a Gifts Supervisor for a busy seasonal period. The role is full-time and temporary until 31 December 2026, with weekend rotations and the potential for a permanent position.

You will lead the Gifts Department, focus on excellent customer service, merchandising and housekeeping, and help run the department day-to-day in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Attention to detail and merchandising knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the Gifts Department team to ensure excellent customer service.
• Ensure customers are welcomed and offered assistance.
• Handle queries courteously and resolve issues where appropriate.
• Identify customer needs and provide helpful, knowledgeable advice.
• Maintain knowledge of garden centre layout and current product ranges.
• Support organisation and day-to-day operation of the department.
• Ensure stock is replenished, displayed and priced accurately.
• Maintain high standards of merchandising, presentation and housekeeping.
• Ensure goods are packed professionally to prevent damage.
• Keep trolleys/baskets available for customers.
• Promote compliance with Health and Safety guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues and third parties.
• Create a welcoming, well-organised shopping experience for customers.
