Whitehall Garden Centre Ltd in Lacock is seeking a Gifts Supervisor for a busy seasonal period. The role is full-time and temporary until 31 December 2026, with weekend rotations and the potential for a permanent position.

You will lead the Gifts Department, focus on excellent customer service, merchandising and housekeeping, and help run the department day-to-day in a fast-paced retail environment.

Gifts Supervisor – Seasonal (Full Time) Temporary

Job Type: Full-time, temporary until the end of December 2026, there may be a possibility of a permanent position Location: Lacock, Wiltshire Working Pattern: Full-time, including weekend working - every other weekend.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Lacock branch for a Gifts Supervisor to join our friendly and inspirational team during our busy seasonal period.

At Whitehall Garden Centre, we pride ourselves on providing an excellent customer experience and creating an enjoyable shopping environment. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for customer service, an eye for detail and the ability to support the smooth day-to-day running of our Gifts Department.

The successful candidate will lead by example, helping to maintain high standards of customer service, merchandising and housekeeping, while supporting and motivating the team in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting the Gifts Department team to ensure excellent customer service at all times.
• Ensuring customers are warmly welcomed and offered assistance throughout their visit.
• Handling customer queries courteously and efficiently, resolving issues where appropriate.
• Identifying customer needs and ensuring they receive helpful, knowledgeable advice.
• Maintaining excellent knowledge of the garden centre layout and current product ranges.
• Supporting the organisation and day-to-day operation of the department.
• Ensuring stock is replenished, displayed and priced accurately, with excellent attention to detail.
• Maintaining high standards of merchandising, presentation and housekeeping in line with company guidelines.
• Ensuring goods are packed professionally and carefully to prevent damage.
• Ensuring trolleys and baskets are readily available for customers.
• Promoting and maintaining compliance with Whitehall's Health and Safety guidelines.
• Building and maintaining positive, cooperative working relationships with colleagues, managers and third parties.
• Helping to create a welcoming, well-organised and enjoyable shopping experience for every customer.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous retail experience, ideally with supervisory or team-leading responsibilities.
• Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Is confident supporting and motivating colleagues.
• Has a positive, enthusiastic and practical approach to work.Demonstrates strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Can work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Is flexible and available to work weekends as part of a full-time rota.
