Job summary

La Fosse Associates is seeking an experienced DevOps Test Automation Engineer (SDET) to join a secure central government programme. You will design automated quality controls, embed tests in CI/CD pipelines, validate AWS deployments, Terraform configurations, and test APIs and microservices.

You will bring Python, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and EKS expertise, with active UK clearance and a track record in cloud-native testing within regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Active UKSV SC or DV clearance required.
• AWS certification is required.
• Strong hands-on experience in AWS engineering environments.
• Commercial experience as SDET/DevOps Test Engineer or cloud-focused Quality Engineer.
• Strong Python development and test-automation experience.
• Terraform or infrastructure-as-code experience.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or similar.
• Advanced API, integration and contract testing experience.
• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and preferably Amazon EKS.
• Experience in secure, regulated public-sector environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based automation frameworks for API, integration, contract, service and web testing.
• Embed automated tests, smoke checks and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Test AWS-hosted applications, cloud-native services and infrastructure changes.
• Validate Terraform deployments and environment configurations.
• Test APIs, microservices, messaging platforms and event-driven integrations.
• Work with containerised environments using Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Perform API and contract testing using Postman, Pact and REST automation libraries.
• Test asynchronous and distributed systems, including Kafka or AWS messaging services.
• Diagnose failures across application code, pipelines, infrastructure, logs and environments.
• Support functional and non-functional testing across performance, security, resilience and reliability.
