We are seeking a highly motivated laboratory scientist to join the Clinical Biomarker Laboratory within the Biomarker and Bioanalytical Platforms (BBP) department in the Precision Medicine (PMed) division, based at the GSK Clinical Unit (CUC) in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will work as part of a team providing biomarker sample study support, handling various sample types/matrices from FTIH, Enabling, and Translational Studies in a GCP-regulated laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

As a lab-based scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Generating high-quality samples from sources such as PBMC from fresh blood, blood stimulations, tissue samples (FFPE), and cellular preparations, including QC testing.
  2. Producing high-quality data supporting studies using spectral flow cytometry (Cytek Aurora), including sample preparation and acquisition.
  3. Innovating and evaluating new biomarker techniques and methodologies.
  4. Handling human biological samples in accordance with GCP, HTA, safety, and data integrity guidelines.
  5. Maintaining laboratory equipment and supporting daily lab responsibilities.
  6. Occasional off-hour study support.
  7. Collaborating effectively across multiple teams within the CUC and external groups.
  8. Supporting and providing sample analysis for the biomarker assay team at Stevenage.
  9. Producing detailed electronic laboratory notebook entries.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • BSc or MSc in biological sciences or a relevant field.
  • Experience or understanding of working in a GCP environment.
  • Laboratory experience with various sample types, including blood and tissue, possibly infected with blood-borne pathogens.
  • Strong focus on quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple deadlines.
  • Good judgment, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality work timely and with a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous to have:

  • Knowledge of the drug development process.
  • Experience with clinical and non-clinical biomarker assays.
  • Experience in writing SOPs and regulated documents.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
