Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking an experienced Scientific Software Engineer to join an innovative technology team at Oxfordshire, South East UK. You’ll work with scientists, software engineers and hardware specialists to connect high-level programming languages with advanced hardware.

You will design and develop compiler infrastructure, SSA-based representations, and tools, integrate simulation tools into cloud platforms, and collaborate across teams while maintaining high-quality, well-tested software.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS or equivalent experience, with focus on compilers or programming languages.
• Proficiency in C++, Rust, Julia, Haskell or OCaml with compiler experience.
• Experience with compiler development and SSA.
• Knowledge of Git, testing, CI/CD and debugging.
• Experience with LLVM or MLIR.
• Background in scientific simulation or HPC.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compiler infrastructure and SSA-based representations.
• Design and develop programming languages and software tools.
• Integrate simulation tools into software and cloud platforms.
• Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop technical solutions.
• Test, debug, optimise and maintain high-quality software.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
