Job summary

European Tech Recruit is partnering with a leading global technology company to hire a proactive Compiler Engineer. You will work on LLVM-based compilers, optimise for emerging hardware, and collaborate with international research hubs to tackle real-world compute challenges in server, HPC and AI domains.

You will analyse performance, implement advanced passes, and contribute to open-source projects while communicating across distributed teams and design groups.

Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for compiler construction, code generation and low-level software engineering.
  • Advanced programming fluency in C and C++.
  • A solid understanding of modern CPU or xPU hardware architectures.
  • BSc, MSc or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • A proven track record of contributions to open-source software communities or compiler codebases.
  • Strong self-directed learning, hands-on execution skills and curiosity to tackle complex engineering problems.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach in distributed, multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Extending and enhancing LLVM-based compilers to support emerging hardware and instruction set features.
  • Architecting and implementing advanced optimisation passes for next-generation xPU architectures.
  • Exploring and integrating AI/ML techniques to drive intelligent, auto-tuning compiler optimisations.
  • Rigorously analysing the efficiency and performance of compiler-generated machine code.
  • Partnering directly with hardware co-design and xPU architecture teams to influence future silicon and software design.

Job description

Our client, a leading global technology company, is looking for a proactive Compiler Engineer to join its compiler and runtime libraries team, working with colleagues across the UK and international research hubs.

You will tackle complex real-world compute challenges in server, HPC and AI domains. You will analyse binary performance, apply cutting-edge compiler passes, resolve deep toolchain issues and collaborate in a multicultural team to deliver high-impact software, with opportunities to contribute your work back to leading open-source projects.

What you will be doing:
  • Extending and enhancing LLVM-based compilers to support emerging hardware and instruction set features
  • Architecting and implementing advanced optimisation passes for next-generation xPU architectures
  • Exploring and integrating AI/ML techniques to drive intelligent, auto-tuning compiler optimisations
