Job summary

Thomas Deacon Academy is seeking two Science Technicians to join our busy Science Department. The roles are permanent, 32.5 hours per week during 39 weeks (term time plus one week). Shifts are 8am–3pm or 9am–4pm, Monday to Friday, with ASAP start.

You will help prepare experiments, maintain equipment and materials, support staff and students, and ensure laboratories are safe, well-organised and ready for engaging practical science lessons. Experience with lab settings is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience with scientific equipment or laboratory settings is advantageous.
• Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage a varied workload.
• Energy, initiative and enthusiasm for science and education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare experiments, equipment and materials for lessons.

As a Science Technician, you'll be the driving force behind exciting and engaging practical science lessons. You'll prepare experiments, equipment and materials, maintain laboratory resources, support staff and students, and help ensure our laboratories are safe, organised and ready for discovery every day.

You'll thrive in this role if you're highly organised, enjoy solving problems, have a keen eye for detail and can manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with scientific equipment or in a laboratory setting would be advantageous, but most importantly, you'll bring energy, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for science and education.
