Job summary

Dorchester Middle School in Dorchester invites applications for a part-time Science Technician (Level 2).

Permanent, 23 hours per week during term time, with pay grade 3, scp3 and pro-rata salary £25,614. The role supports practical science lessons and helps maintain laboratories and equipment.

The successful candidate will have a science background or hands-on lab experience, be highly organized, able to work independently and as part of a team, and uphold safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or above or equivalent experience.
• Practical laboratory/technical experience.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain laboratories, classrooms, equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
• Set up and assemble apparatus and resources required for teaching activities.
• Support teachers and pupils during practical sessions.
• Maintain equipment and undertake basic repairs where practical.
• Ensure safe storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and materials.
• Maintain inventories, records and service schedules.
• Assist with ordering, stock control and resource management.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and COSHH requirements.
